NZ Resources

Published by michelle at 10:03 pm under Inspiration, Internet

When I first moved to New Zealand I found it really difficult to find resources like good magazines, suppliers, craft fairs, websites, etc. But, I recently found one local website, which led me to another then another, and suddenly I started to discover an online creative community. NZ seems to support it’s creative people quite well, so I had been frustrated that I couldn’t find what I was looking for. I still lust after the resources available in the US, but at least I am starting to find things here. The main thing I wish we had available here were the art retreats/workshops that seem to be on all the time in the US - if you know of any please let me know!

So I thought, if I’ve had trouble finding this stuff, others must have to. So here is a far from complete list of interesting NZ-based websites.

http://www.felt.co.nz/ - an online marketplace (think the Kiwi Etsy)

http://www.fuel4arts.co.nz/ - arts marketing tools

http://idealog.co.nz/ - the website of the design magazine. The current issue has some great articles.

http://www.thebigidea.co.nz/ - a database of creative people and organisations

http://toggle.co.nz/ - handmade consignment store

http://www.worldsweetworld.com/ - magazine for creatives - launches  late March

http://studiohomecreative.blogspot.com/ - blog showcasing cool designers

Upcoming fairs:

http://craft2.org/ 22 March, Lower Hutt

http://autumncraft.co.nz/index.html - 12 13 April, Lower Hutt

If you know of any other interesting sites - please let me know!!
