One-World-One-Heart
I just found out about this wonderful event, and decided to join in on the fun.
It is created and organized by Lisa Oceandreamer at Heart of the Nest, the original idea behind this giveaway event was to bring bloggers together from around the world who may never ordinarily meet. It closes the gap of the blog community and enables us to interact, discover new and wonderful people, and in the process possibly win a prize or many prizes along the way.
So, to take part I am giving away one of my handmade necklaces!! It is a one-of-a-kind paua and glass bead necklace on a suede cord. The centrepiece is a gorgeous piece of paua shell 2cm x 3cm which shimmers with blue, green, purple and pink. the cord is 45cm long and the dangles of glass beads and paua hang 8cm below the paua centrepiece. Put together, it is a beautiful, shimmery necklace with lovely movement and colour.
Paua is the New Zealand Maori name for the local species of abalone. To Maori it is considered taonga, or treasure, esteemed both as seafood and it’s shell as a valued resource for traditional and contemporary arts and crafts. It is iconic in New Zealand.
All you have to do to win it is leave a comment on this post telling me a little something about yourself. To give you some ideas - how about telling me what your favourite band is, or the blog you visit most frequently, or your favourite thing to do on a rainy day, or something new you just learned - anything!! The point of this event is to meet and get to know new people via blogging, so lets start by sharing something about ourselves. Please also include the URL of your blog so I can visit you.
Ok, the formal stuff - to enter you must have a working blog, leave a comment on this post with your blog URL and a little something about yourself before February 14th. This is open to anyone anywhere in the world. On the 15th I will use a random number generator to select a comment number. I will then post you the necklace that will hopefully attract lots of lovely compliments to you.

Something about me, well…I was raised in Virginia and came to live in PA when my husband retired from the Navy. We have lived in Florida and California, but I have only been out of the US three times..all on vacation trips to Bermuda! Lovely island!

Hi Michelle, I live in Connecticut USA very very close to the shore. I love exploring the shoreline on my walks and enjoying bringing my camera along to capture the beautiful scenery. I love my gardens in the summer, and try to bring many plants in during the winter to keep me company. I love to decorate and redecorate my house (especially in winter) I love all kinds of music, but especially new age, trip hop and electronic. If you are ever bored you can take a trip over to my website and see my BeachWalks photo album, or take a look at the home movie videos to hear the music I like in the background of the movies.

THis necklace is beautiful - I read somewhere recently that yes if you are an artist you make art - but do you wear art? I confess, I have to wear more art - sounds like a great idea! This would be a wonderful piece to wear as art.

Well what to tell you. I’m a Dutch woman who’s lived in NZ a lot of her years. I have two sons who are Nga Puhi and so I have whanau links in the north (through marriage)
I like to sail, fish, sea kayak, paint, read and play with my grandchildren.

I love abalone…..and this reminds me of my grandmother sending a nightgown shift with magnificent shells from the beaches in Melbourne, Australia, she had attached by hand…
Thinking about your questions and what I have just learned very recently which you might like are soulcollage. They are cards you make yourself through collage and you work intuitively and they say something about you. I love them, it has always been how I taught art, try to get the voice flowing without the interference of the mind saying ‘but its supposed to be like this!’

Tell you a little bit about myself….well, I am a mother of two beautiful little girls, a wife and best friend to my husband, I am 35 years old and a Canadian. I stay at home full time (I have for over five years) and I am still getting reacquainted with myself! Can’t you tell??? It’s so hard to describe myself it seems. Okay…so my hobbies include paper crafts like scrapbooking and rubber stamping, card making, reading, cooking. I just recently joined a gym and I’m enjoying that..the endorphens are incredible. I wish I had more time to be creative because I feel like a creative person is stuck inside me….time is my biggest obstacle. I hope you will count me in!

As far as something about myself - hmm. Well, the two passions I indulge in my blog are photography and writing (mostly poetry) and it’s been a wonderful adventure in the blogging world over the last six months since I started sharing my work online. I find that blogging keeps me motivated & accountable to myself for doing something creative regularly.
And my favorite band is the Indigo Girls. And Dar Williams. And the Retrofits (though I’m biased about them because the lead singer/songwriter/pianist is a friend).
